How to Detangle Natural Hair
Step 1
Part
hair into sections. Use a wide toothed, zig zag or parting comb to divide the
hair into at least four sections. Secure each section with a hairband or hair
clip. Leave at least one section untied so that you can begin detangling it. Get more details how
to detangle
Step
2
Fill
a clean and empty spray bottle with water, vegetable glycerine and a natural
oil like sunflower or olive oil. Alternatively fill the bottle with water and
conditioner. Shake the mixture well before applying it liberally to your hair..
Then take a very small section of damp or wet hair, t the root to avoid pulling
or breakage and then begin detangling from the ends of the hair upwards. Be
gentle as excess pulling may cause breakage and pain. Starting from the ends of
the hair and gently comb, gradually work upwards until you reach near the root
of your hair.
Step
3
Once
you've detangled a section of hair, repeat the process until a full quarter of
your hair has been detangled. Then, plait or twist this section so that does
not become mixed up with the tangled hair. Repeat the detangling process until
you have completed the whole head.
Tips:
Avoid combing your hair when it is dry as this will cause excess breakage and
damage such as split ends.
If
you are finding the detangling process hard, work on very small sections of
hair. You can also try applying olive, sunflower or coconut oil to the knotted
hair as these oils help to seal in moisture and because they are slippery, will
make it easier to comb out knots and tangles.
